75 Days Left to Help Make Thoreau’s Backyard a Reality!
Dear Friends:
Courtney Ward here – a Concord mom with a Thoreau second grader (Zoe) and two future Thoreau Huskies (Van and Sage). I'm reaching out to share an exciting update from the playground committee.
WE OFFICIALLY HAVE 75 DAYS REMAINING IN THIS CAMPAIGN!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of over 75 donors, we have raised an impressive $373,905 to support Thoreau’s Backyard. In the last few weeks, we received a few significant gifts from fellow Thoreau parents, which really helped us launch forward. Thank you to all who have contributed so far. We are getting close to making this playground dream a reality - and we have 75 days to get this done.
This April (75 days from today), the playground committee will assess our fundraising progress and determine (along with many, many partners) the scope and scale of our new playground. This will be entirely based on our fundraising performance. Our goal of $610,000 was developed with the equipment choices that we understood to be important, and we remain hopeful that we can hit this target to create an amazing space. But we need your help. Building a magical place requires a village—our village. We’re going to need everyone’s help to raise another $236k in 75 days.
There’s so much going on around us every single day that is worthy of support. But this one hits very close to home - literally and figuratively. Our kids spend a big chunk of their childhood at Thoreau School - why not give them a chance to have a beautiful, fun outdoor space where they can learn to play, socialize, explore, and take risks?
We’ll be finding opportunities over the next few months to present this project: we want to share ideas, gather feedback, and answer questions. Several of us will be at the Book Fair and Math Night on March 7, so stop by to say hi.
Let’s find ourselves celebrating the success of this campaign this spring. Let’s find ourselves watching kids play on an amazing new playground next fall. Please join in and get others to join in, too!
With excitement,
