Final Push for Thoreau’s Backyard!
Hello, Thoreau families and friends–
As a fellow Thoreau mom and playground committee volunteer, I just want to take a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come and share how grateful I am for our village.
Folks, we’ve raised $523,727 from 402 families for Thoreau’s Backyard! I’ve felt so inspired watching the momentum grow—from coin buckets to personal fundraising pages to generous family gifts. It’s been amazing to witness what we can accomplish when we all come together, and we only have $86,273 left to raise!
$523,727 raised of $610,000 goal
While we originally aimed to wrap things up by now, we’ve decided to extend the campaign a bit longer as we continue to push toward our final goal of $610,000. We’re getting so close, and with the energy and heart this community has shown, I know we’ll get there.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s to come:

Our super-fun playground design will be presented for School Committee approval at the end of the April.
Once we get the green light, we’ll purchase the equipment immediately.
And then comes the most exciting part—watching this playground come together this summer with help from this community. Yes, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves, grabbing some tools (and sunscreen), and helping to build this beautiful space together.
Thoreau’s Backyard is entirely funded by philanthropy, and it’s truly powered by love—for our kids, our school, and this town. Thank you for being a part of it.
Almost there!
